Description

We’re looking for a Management Partner or an experienced duo who excel at running community pubs, ideally within the West of Scotland.

You’ll have the outgoing personality necessary to provide the warm welcome guests expect. The pub is wet-led, but catering is a big part of the offer. Although not complex, experience in delivering quality food is essential, as is the ability to manage a small kitchen team.

The ideal candidate(s) should fully understand the needs of their local community. Therefore, you will always have one ear to the ground listening to what matters to your locals. You’ll know what makes a good event and ensure guests have a great time with high-quality service, complete with food and drink provided. You will also be committed to developing your team to improve both product knowledge and service skills.

You’ll be a friendly listener who is versatile in your communication style. You’ll provide entertainment, food, and drink offerings to accommodate the needs of families, couples, regulars, darts, and quiz teams. Your attention to detail and ability to treat all customers equally will ensure that they are happy to recommend you and your pub. You’ll also excel at showcasing your events and bringing your activities to life on social media.

The pub and location

You’ll enjoy a traditional community pub in Netherton, on the boundary between Wishaw and Motherwell. Netherton is a Southerly suburb of Wishaw that can be entered from Netherton Road, which runs Easterly from Pickering’s Corner to the Cherry Tree public house, spanning the full length of the suburb.

The ideal operator/s will optimise their marketing to draw visitors to their pub. They will capitalise on the 15,000 approximate population in the Netherton area and visitors to the location. You’ll thrive during evenings and weekends, as the Cherry Tree is the go-to venue with limited competition nearby. It is all about setting the right atmosphere for the occasion – a meet with friends, the big match, quiz night, a bite to eat or a live music event.

The pub comprises a single room trading area, a commercial kitchen, and a bar area separated into a drinking and games zone and a dining area. Live entertainment is popular at weekends. The business is wet-led, and sales 75/25 % in favour of liquor. Plus, there is a small beer garden with space for around 30 patrons and two-bedroom accommodation above the pub.

From the roadside, The Cherry Tree has a good presence with a prominent garden area. There is a small car park beside the pub and an adjacent bookmaker. We plan to refurbish this pub, sharing the details during the interview process.
