Could you run this pub? The Old Bell, is a 15th Century high street pub which sits within a historic part of Rye, and it has an interesting history, with its name originating from Ryes history. When in 1377 a French raid resulted in the theft of the bells from St Marys Church and a town fire. This charming pub has some great features and is one of the few pubs with a large outside area (40 covers) and is known for offering a locally sourced food offer, a great drinks selection, Cask Marque ales and a cosy and quaint interior with beamed ceilings and traditional features. A great attraction for both those living in the local area and those visitors that are passing by soaking up the history of this beautiful part of East Sussex. Business facilities This is a historical pub and has a quaint and characterful interior. It’s an open plan pub and has a main bar and trading space (with room for 32 covers) with WIFI and a kitchen to the rear. It also offers a fantastic and spacious outside area (to the right of the pub) for customers to enjoy the warmer days ahead, and a smoking solution. Refurbishment This pub’s best asset is its authentic charm, but we have plans to enhance this by improving the back bar and refurbishing the main trading area, to complement its features. Accommodation There is no private accommodation at this pub. About the local area Rye is a historical town in East Sussex with a small port and just two miles from the sea, and the Rye sits at the heart. It’s known for its rich smuggling history and offers beautiful streets full of unique shops, inns and cafes making it a huge draw for Londoners and those from further afield seeking a relaxing break.
